We brought Susie to Summerville, SC from Green Bay, WI five short years ago - hence our kennel name Bayville which will live on forever. Little did we know that when we set out to pick the right puppy for our family that the puppy would actual choose us instead. From the very moment that she was placed on the grass amongst her litter mates, Susie ignored her brothers and sisters and followed Sarah around the yard. It was like two magnets coming together. Susie was very loving in the home and a machine in the field. Most people knew her field side where she had a one track mind - birds and pleasing those that walked behind her. In the house she ruled the roost but yet had a nurturing side that was unsurpassed. Those that had the pleasure of seeing this side of her had their hearts stolen. She loved to please whoever she was with. She was very competitive in everything she did both in the show ring and field. She made things easy for her handlers and was pretty much push button once she knew the drill. At six months of age she would hunt for hours as she and I went in search for the scarce wild bird. Then I met a very special friend who introduced me to the AKC Hunt Tests - a new way to get her on birds and something more to aim for. The perfection of a Master Hunter title became the quest. Susie made it easy and we went all the way from wowing judges at 7 months of age to getting cheers coming out of the field after having contact with 10 birds (7 pointed and retrieved) during a Master brace in NC. She finished her Master Hunter title in December of 2004 on the home field where she started 3 years earlier. She changed our family in so many ways. We always had a lap dog in the house but never one over 50 lbs until Susie. One over 15 lbs was never allowed on the furniture until Susie changed that as well. Now we have another lap dog that is over 70 lbs. and yes we are now changed forever. Another very important way she changed us was bringing us close to all of you that are reading this now. If it was not for Susie ONE MORE BIRD would not be training your dogs today and our family would not have met most of the great people we know today. Susie left us all with our own special memories that can never be taken away. She is now hunting the fields of heaven in search for just one more bird and teaching those nine special little pups just what hunting is all about. We will be updating our website with all the usual client pictures and training information as well as to the details of Susie's lost litter of puppies and the complications that followed that eventually ended her life way too early. We will also be introducing a new page on breeding that we hope will help others, so that they will not have to endure what Susie and our family had to. SUSIE AT 10 WEEKS
